Remodel
When you encounter a home that feels “timeless,” you understand what good design means. Another way to put it would be - a house that never needs to be remodeled!
Most homes were built with good intentions, but over time, the given aesthetic or performance qualities may be ready for an upgrade. In that way, remodeling refers to modifying all or a portion of a house improving the layout and flow of the spaces, updating infrastructure systems such as insulation, windows, electrical and plumbing, and applying new finishes and treatments that adhere to a cohesive vision and plan.
That’s where we come in. In some ways building a new house is the easiest building project there is. Additions and remodels involve working with existing aspects of a building and require thoughtful inspection, planning and balancing the positive aspects of new and old construction.
After understanding your goals, our approach is take detailed measurements of your existing home, rooms and spaces to build a very precise 3D model in CAD. From there we can identify which features are best left alone (such as structural load bearing walls), and which pieces can be brought to a blank slate.
In situations where remodeling is primarily “redecorating,” we’ll recommend a qualified interior designer to take on the project. When more significant changes are happening, we’ll work through a logical progression of design options to show you what your idea would look like, what is possible, and what should be avoided.
When digging into especially old homes here in New England, we advise approaching remodeling with a fluid “design-build” spirit, where the design may change as demolition uncovers new information.
Our process ensures you are in the drivers seat, given the best options and advice, and provided with detailed documents for your permitting and construction needs.
